In 1980, Ayuko left Tokyo and went to a school in Okayama, where she has no friends and only her high school friend Hideho who she can count on for moral support. One day, Takemi, a classmate of Ayuko, discovers that Ayuko is talented (she likes to draw manga about her and her boyfriend). Being a huge manga fan, Takemi becomes a fan of Ayuko's works, leading to the two becoming close friends. However, an accident leads to a fight and separation. 30 years later, in
, Ayuko is a professional manga artist and returns to Okayama to give a speech at her old high school. There she finds Takim, who has become a teacher. Suddenly, a friendship that both had thought was long lost is rekindled as adults.
