Review:

     The film tells the story of the 33rd year of the reign of Emperor Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty (1554). By order of the Emperor, 18 Shaolin kung fu monks (wielding a long staff as a weapon), led by the monk Wujue, set out south to defend the coasts of the empire from invading Japanese pirates. Shortly after arriving at the Jiangsu-Zhejiang front line, the monks encountered a Japanese pirate party and rescued civilians held hostage by the enemy.
